The Si is the worst of the bunch, but again not enough to warrant much complaint among owners, especially those who chose the Si most likely for reasons other than the plush ride.

The 2010 Honda Civic Coupe comes with many safety features, including dual front, front-side, and curtain-side airbags, antilock brakes, a tire pressure monitor, and even daytime running lights coming standard on the DX trim. 

Many complaints have been heard about the optional navigation system available on the 2010 Honda Civic Coupe EX and Si trims, which is hard to read and seems to overly complicate the relatively simple audio functions it absorbs. Excessive noise and a firm but not sporty ride mar the driving experience for non-Si trims.

Marking the changes for the 2009 Honda Civic are a slight nose and tail job, new wheel designs, a pair of new trim levels (LX-S and DX Value Package) and a number of high-tech enhancements (including Bluetooth availability and a USB audio input).

The car handles well enough and has decent power. A 6th gear would have been welcome, but there 5spd auto is sufficient. It's a good looking car with good featured and it gets good gas mileage. The area where the civic FAILS is I'm build quality. My rear LED brake light had to be replaced due to a bad solder point - a known defect. The interior rattles more than it should. The clearcoat on the hood was cracking and failing, but thankfully was fixed when I got a new hood due to hail damage. The driver seat has started squeaking loudly when I go over a bump, sometimes while entering and exiting the vehicle as well. This is a known issue with seat frame and I'm working with the dealer. 

Favorite Features
Car is good looking and gets good gas mileage. Stereo is pretty good and I love the iPod connectivity. Gas mileage is very good as long as you keep your foot out of it. 

Suggested Improvements
Less road noise, esp. at highway speeds, get with the times and get SIX speeds in your gearbox, and above all, improve the APPALLING build quality. This is my first and last Honda. I expected more from this brand, especially one known for refined vehicles. Save yourself the annoyance and buy something else. I'll be buying a Volkswagen or Hyundai next time around.

Finally, the Civic Si, with the same engine as an Acura RSX Type-S, is back in fighting form, offering performance thrills at a value price.

The interior is roomy and quiet, however, and this allows the 2005 Honda Civic to be an excellent car for both commuting and long-distance trips. The Si hatchback is more fun, though not as much as other sporty coupes.

The big news this year is the return of the Civic Si. Featuring an exclusive two-door hatchback body style, the new Si has a 160-horsepower engine. DX and LX are powered by a 115-horsepower 1.7-liter four-cylinder engine and are mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The engines in the GX, HX and EX are equipped with Honda's VTEC variable valve-timing system. VTEC allows both the GX and EX to make 127 horsepower. The miserly HX manages only 117 hp, but the reward is an EPA mileage estimate of 36/44 mpg city/highway. The HX and GX can be equipped with a continuously variable transmission and all of these engines meet ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) standards. Later in 2002, Honda is set to offer a gasoline/electric hybrid Civic showcasing technology developed for the Honda Insight.

If it's power you are looking for, the Civic Si hatchback should suit you. The Si comes with the 160-hp 2.0-liter engine also found in the Acura RSX. The shifter for the close-ratio five-speed manual transmission is mounted rally-style on the center dashboard. Other features include standard rear disc brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, sport seats and special gauges.

Regardless of the body style, the Civic earns excellent scores in government crash tests. Dual seatbelt pre-tensioners, dual-stage airbag inflators, three-point seatbelts for all five occupants and optional side airbags with a cutoff system that can detect a child or occupant out of position are all offered. ABS is offered, but only on EX, GX and Si trim.

Honda redesigns its cars and trucks every four to five years, whether they need it or not. For 2001, it's the Honda Civic's turn. Finally, the company wanted to improve quality 10 times over the old Civic, which sounds damn near impossible to us. Last year's car was already known to be one of the most reliable and tightly assembled vehicles on the planet.

Unfortunately, the hatchback model got the axe and the zippy Si Coupe disappeared in the process, leaving two- and four-door models available in a wide variety of trim levels. Like last year, base models are known as DX, and include a tilt steering wheel and an AM/FM four-speaker stereo, among other items. Mid-level LX comes with air conditioning (includes a micron air filter), power windows and locks, cruise control and a cassette deck.

Engineers targeted a five-star NHTSA crash-test score when designing the Civic's new structure, all while providing more room and greater comfort in a package equivalent in size to the 2000 model. More than two decades ago, Honda introduced the Civic. It was a small, anonymous, unassuming car, competing in a market saturated by mammoth sedans sporting ornate chrome, garish styling treatments, and acres of sheetmetal. The producers of these defunct dinosaurs didn't bat an eye at Honda's fuel sipping entry, despite the fuel crisis of 1973. Big mistake.

It is a car that easily endears itself to its owner.

I bought this car late 2000 as my first car. It had about 69,000 miles and I have since run that up to almost 127,000. The cost of planned maintenance is low, tires are inexpensive, and oil changes at 4,000 mile intervals don't seem to matter. I have only had two unplanned maintenance issues: the ignition coil failed and the car shutdown. This was due to old spark plugs that I had not changed at the needed interval (my fault). Second, a CV joint cracked, although this was probably from normal wear and tear. Bottom line, very few unplanned issues over a LONG life :). Good reliabilty! The car (127 hp, auto trans) is not fast, but it handles well. 

Favorite Features
Very light curb weight (<2600 lbs) makes for acceptable performance from a tiny engine. Superb gas efficiency. Comfortable seats, despite the unrefined interior. Handy rear split/fold down seats. Good exterior aesthetics. Very low cost of ownership.

Suggested Improvements
Need improvements on interior window linings. Living in FL, the linings melted and ruined in inside windows Needs better brakes. Small front disc and rear drum with very poor stopping distance Needs better wheels/tires (5.5 inch width, 14 inch wheel) are not good for braking.

I've had my 96 Honda Civic EX coupe for about a year now, it came out of the abusive driving conditions of NYC, and i can't believe how reliable this car is! I bought my civic from a small dealership for only $2200 with 150k and I don't regret buying this car at all. I'm a college student and I commute everyday with this car. I never had any mechanical problems with the car until I had my friend who is a mechanic look at it. He did find some problems, like it was leaking brake fluid and oil and the desperately needed a tune up, an oil change and new brake pads. Even when the car needed all that work it running and driving fine, but now that i fixed all that the car is running beautifully.

Favorite Features
I added a lot of aftermarket parts to my civic so i don't really know a lot of the stock features of this car, but I love the leg room in the front and back. I'm always hanging out with friends and my car is always packed, but the leg is the perfect amount compared to my mom's 06 Nissan Sentra. I also love the gas mileage this car has, a full tank in this car gives you endless possiblities.

Suggested Improvements
I can't think of anything that needs to be improved on tyhis car at all, it's perfect!!!

We bought our Civic EX from the original owner to replace a 1990 Acura Legend due to an accident. I wish it were a stick instead of automatic, but the gas mileage is still great. I am noticing that it is getting a bit sluggish with age and I miss the power of the Acura, but it handles well on snow and dirt roads and has a nice, tight suspension. A dashboard wire to the speedometer/odometer is loose, too. I think the latest oil change indicated it might have a slight oil leak, but haven't noticed any burning oil or oil on ground, so it's probably very minor. This is an all-around great car. I hope to pass it on to my daughter to drive in high school in 4 years.

Favorite Features
Fun to drive, beautiful exterior, great mileage. Love the simple controls and glad there are few electronics.

Suggested Improvements
Better cupholders in front. A bit more power. Weak power windows in winter.

But with no optional V8 engine available, the Passport compares poorly to other models in this class. Even the Pathfinder's V6 makes up to 250 horsepower.
The content-heavy base LX and dressed-up EX trim levels are available with two- or four-wheel drive. The 4WD transfer case is a shift-on-the-fly affair operated via a poorly located dash-mounted button. The Passport feels undersprung off-road and mushy on the highway, failing to please in either environment. Isuzu's Rodeo gets a driver-selectable suspension system to help in this regard, but doesn't share that particular toy with Honda.
Four-wheel-drive models get disc brakes at each corner, while rear-wheel-drive models get discs in front and drums in back. For safety, ABS and dual front airbags are standard on all models. Power windows, power locks, dual power mirrors, cruise, air conditioning and an eight-speaker stereo with cassette are also standard.
